This is just a modern version of the previous one. This form, the Verse-Chorus, is pretty self-explanatory. Your verses should lead into a summarizing chorus that ties everything together. The djembe is one of West Africa’s best known instruments. It is essentially a goblet-shaped drum carved from a single piece of African hardwood with a head made from rope-tightened animal hide.

Here’s a new track from Armin van Buuren showcasing this technique with the kick pattern at around 00:37 first, and then again with the snare at around 00:59, to give the lister something that immediately feels familiar, even though it’s brand new.

“Killshot”: Dang, so this song broke YouTube’s record for most plays in its first 24 hours with 38.1 million views. Do not mess with Slim Shady. Or, I mean, do. Because “we need a little controversy, and it feels so emp-ty without.” Hey, speaking of controversy, I’m making the call for a rare 2/4 meter here — reason being that if you think of it in 4/4 (at 53 BPM) and cut the measure in half, the measures are the same (at least to start, although there are places where this isn’t true). The loop motifs all sound to me like they’re only two beats, phrase-wise. Form-wise, it’s just one rimfire cartridge, one gunpowder-filled 120-ish-bar capital V Verse. Pow.

Mockingbird foundation

The last of our bunch today, Niccolò Piccinni was born in Bari in 1728. He lived a prolific life as a composer in his day, producing operas, symphonies, concertos and chamber music, although today his works are sadly, rarely performed. His operas in particular, of which he composed around eighty, were performed frequently in Rome and abroad in most major European cities.

By stressing and manipulating the common and uncommon tones between these three scales, we can create a lot of tonal variation out of very little harmonic information — freedom in limitations, for sure. Examine these three scales to see the crossover:

“Perfect”: The pre-chorus section here does something fun, changing up about half the lyrics to make it kind of like a pre-chorus/verse hybrid type thing. I can’t remember when I’ve seen that before, at least not to this degree of lyrical tinkering.

With St. Vincent-worthy guitar riffs that glide over pulsing ’80s drum beats, the indie-pop powerhouse has earned rave reviews from the likes of Billboard, Village Voice, and BuzzFeed. Sulene is a composer for multiple music houses including Marmoset and Squeak E Clean, she’s endorsed by Fender and Jim Dunlop, and her solo music is published through Rough Trade Publishing. Sulene has a degree in film scoring from Berklee College of Music.

Crowdfunding’s magic lies in the fact that it takes both artists and fans to make a project happen. It’s not the typical, one-sided creative conversation that the music industry has been having for nearly 100 years. And although skimming through live campaigns on a regular basis is difficult if you’re looking after the health of your wallet, there’s really no better way to get a glimpse of the myriad ways music can connect people.
